2) Why is Rajkumar Shukla discribed as being 'resolute' ?
Answer ) He met Gandhi in the Lucknow session of congress. But Gandhi had many engagements in different parts of India. He accompanied him. He waited till Gandhi was free. Gandhi was impressed by his tenacity and finally went with him to Bihar.

3) Why do you think the servants thought Gandhi to be another peasant ?
Answer ) Shukla led Gandhi to Rajendra Prasad's house. The servants knew Shukla. So they think that Gandhi was another peasant.

5) What did the peasants pay to British landlords as rent ? What would be the impact of synthetic Indigo on the prices of natural Indigo ?
Answer ) The peasants were forced to pay 15% of their holdings with indigo. They surrendered the entire Indigo harvest as rest.
The British now wants synthetic indigo because of its low cost. Now the demand of natural indigo fall due to synthetic indigo.

6) Why did Gandhi agree to a settlement of 25% refund to the farmers?
Answer ) Gandhi demanded refund of 50% of the money. But the planters offered to refund only 25% of money. Gandhi agreed. He says that the amount of refund was not much important. The important thing is  breaking the deadlock. They were compelled to surrender the money and their prestige too.

7) How did the episode changed the plight of the peasants ?
Answer ) This changes the conditions of peasants in Champaran. Previously the landlords behave as lords above law. Now the 15% clause was over. The peasants have their legal rights. They leared courage.

1) Why do you think Gandhi considered the Champaran episode to be a turning-point in his life ?
Answer ) He considered this episode to be a turning point in his life because it was a successful movement. He became popular as a person who fights for the poor people. No one knows about Gandhi's history but a huge number of people supported him in Champaran movement.

2) How was Gandhi able to influnce lawyers ? Give instances.
Answer ) There are many such instances like :-
(1) Gandhi chided the lawyers for collecting a big fee from the poor sharecroppers.
(2) Many lawyers like Rajendra Prasad, Brij Kihor Babu etc. have arrived from different parts of India to help him.
(3) He put them in a situation that if he was arrested then what would you do they replied, that they will return to home. Then he says them to think again about this.

3) What was the attitude of average Indian in smaller localities towards advocates of 'home rule' ?
Answer ) Indians were afraid to show sympathy for advocates of home rule. Because they have accepted all the things going on like British laws and orders. They do not have the courage to stand against the British government.

4) How do you know that ordinary people too contributed to the freedom movement ?
Answer ) The ordinary people have also contributed to the freedom movements. A large number of people collected to help Gandhi's every decision. A huge mass was collected at the time when he was arrested. But due to this huge crowd British government feared and requested Gandhi to regulate the crowd. There was another incident when a large number of people welcomed him at the station at Champaran this shows that the people were ready to support him.
